01 / WHY A DEPARTMENT FOR ODD THINGS?
Somewhere between the morning coffee and the trip to the store, the world usually does something amusingly peculiar. A plug socket looks offended. A shadow turns into a creature. Two entirely unrelated objects match in a way nobody planned. Most of those moments disappear before anyone thinks to share them.
ODD//DEPT is a fictional bureau for these tiny observations. We take the presentation of paperwork seriously and the mystery itself not very seriously. Our operating theory is that a little curiosity can turn an otherwise forgettable day into a story worth telling.
02 / HOW TO EXPLORE
Start with the Anomaly Lab, a three-question browser-only entertainment quiz that returns an obviously fictional classification. It requires no account and does not save your choices to the application database.
Then visit the Field Guide. It has fourteen short, safe observation missions, each with its own briefing, sample report, safety guidance and shareable challenge link. Most take two or three minutes, and none require special equipment or GPS.
If you find something worth documenting, you may create a free adult account, file a text-only reality-bug report and receive a place in your Field Passport after approval. Browse and react to published observations from other members as the community grows. Demonstration reports are labeled as examples rather than presented as actual activity.
03 / WHAT THIS IS NOT
ODD//DEPT is not a government agency, paranormal investigation service, emergency-response channel, scientific evidence repository, medical tool or source of professional advice. Case classifications and quiz scores are jokes, not factual findings about the world.
Do not trespass, photograph strangers, track people, share private addresses, or undertake dangerous stunts for a mission. We would rather miss an interesting observation than compromise someone's safety or privacy.
04 / OUR APPROACH TO CONTENT AND PRIVACY
Public case reporting is text-only. New members' early reports require human review, and the Department can remove content that threatens safety or privacy. Personal account information and private support records are not part of the public archive. Members can view, export and delete their own submissions from the File Cabinet.
There are no required payments, photo uploads, location tracking or AI-generated case judgments in the current experience. Read our Privacy Notice, Cookies & Analytics Notice and Community Rules for more detail.
05 / WHO OPERATES THE APP?
ODD//DEPT is operated by Syndicate Hub LLC, whose business website is https://syndicate-hub.com. Contact the business at syndicatehubllc@gmail.com, or use Department Support for an issue with the service.
06 / JOIN THE FIELDWORK
Curiosity requires very little. Try the Anomaly Lab, pick a two-minute field mission, or invite a friend to find an absurdly ordinary thing nearby. Bring your sense of humor. Leave everyone else's private details out of it.
