ODD//DEPT is a fictional, entertainment-focused curiosity community operated by Syndicate Hub LLC. This guide explains how to enjoy the Cabinet without disturbing real people or spreading harmful content. It supplements our Terms of Service and Child Safety Standards; it does not replace either document or apply to any real government agency.
01 / THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE
Notice things. Don't disturb things. All missions and Expeditions are optional. Observe everyday objects from places you are lawfully allowed to be. Never enter restricted property, follow or confront strangers, drive distracted, investigate real hazards, or put an app challenge ahead of anyone's safety. No equipment, GPS, photos or proof is required. For immediate real-world danger, contact appropriate emergency services instead of filing an ODD//DEPT case.
02 / WHAT BELONGS IN A PUBLIC CASE FILE
- Original, harmless, first-person observations of patterns, reflections, coincidences, unusually expressive household objects, or funny everyday details.
- Short, accurate descriptions written in your own words. Keep the atmosphere playful, but do not fabricate community participation or claim your story was scientifically verified.
- An optional made-up agent alias that is not a real person's name, email, social handle, phone number, company title, or staff/government identity.
Examples include a teapot that looks unimpressed or three ordinary signs that accidentally rhyme. The three sample dossiers on the homepage are clearly labeled demonstrations, not real member reports.
03 / WHAT DOES NOT BELONG HERE
- Someone's private identity, address, phone number, email, account information, exact location, passwords, confidential records, or directions to locate an individual.
- Photographs, video, URLs, promotional spam, phishing, deceptive commercial claims, impersonation of ODD//DEPT staff, or content you do not have rights to share.
- Harassment, bullying, hate, threats, stalking, dangerous dares, graphic violence, pornography, sexual material, or instructions encouraging abuse.
- Any child sexual abuse or exploitation (CSAE/CSAM), grooming, solicitation, trafficking or conduct that facilitates abuse of children. This is strictly prohibited. Do not post, link to, forward, or save suspected illegal material as evidence.
For a real child-safety concern, contact our private Child Safety support channel with a brief factual explanation or case ID; see the full standards and reporting guidance. For other private concerns, use Department Support, not the public case composer.
04 / PUBLIC CASES, PRIVATE NOTES, AND ADULT ACCOUNTS
You may explore the Field Guide, five Expeditions, Daily Bingo, and Field Shift builder without signing in. Your local Field Notebook self-checkmarks are not public reports, scientific evidence, moderator-approved Field Passport marks, or proof of completion.
Accounts are limited to people aged 18 or older. Registration requires an adult self-declaration and agreement to the Terms. This checkbox is not independent age verification. Signed-in members can deliberately submit text-only cases; approved public case content can be copied, linked and shared by other people. Do not include material you want to keep confidential.
05 / REPORTING, BLOCKING, AND MODERATION
Signed-in adults can use Report This File on a public case or Report Agent for contributor misconduct, with a specific reason. They can also block a contributor's cases from their signed-in archive without notifying that contributor. Privacy, danger and child-safety flags immediately hold the cited public case for review; other flags may also trigger review. Public support and guest reports are available through the private Support form.
New contributors' early cases require human approval, while established accounts may publish ordinary safe submissions without routine pre-approval. We use content checks, activity limits and moderator actions, but no filter detects every violation. We may hide, remove, restrict or classify cases and suspend an account after reviewing misconduct. We do not promise round-the-clock moderation or a fixed response time.
06 / APPEALS, REMOVALS, AND RIGHTS
To ask for review of a held or removed case, choose Content Appeal in Department Support and include the case ID and a clear explanation. Appeals are considered when our human administrative capacity allows; filing an appeal does not guarantee reinstatement.
For intellectual-property complaints, counter-notices, or a privacy removal request, consult the Copyright & Removals Policy and use the corresponding private support subject. A displayed contact address is not proof that a registered DMCA designated-agent filing has been completed.
07 / CONTACT AND TRANSPARENCY
The service is operated by Syndicate Hub LLC and is not affiliated with a government, law enforcement, or a scientific verification body. For policy questions, moderation concerns, privacy requests or safety reports, write to syndicatehubllc@gmail.com or use private Department Support. You can also read the Privacy Notice, Cookies & Analytics notice, and Accessibility statement.
